Friends and colleagues describe Markus as someone whose warmth, humor, and compassion could light up any room. His encouraging words and genuine care for others made him a source of inspiration for many within the university community.

Athletic Achievements and Early Life

Before his dental school journey, Markus Mosley distinguished himself as a talented athlete. During the 2014-15 track and field season, he showcased his speed and versatility, finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash at the Dick Taylor Carolina Cup with a time of 24.22 seconds, and earning sixth place in the 60-meter hurdles at the Kent Taylor Invitational with a personal best of 8.69 seconds.

Markus also competed in several outdoor events, including the 100m, 200m, and 110m hurdles, consistently demonstrating his commitment and athletic excellence.

During his high school years at Garner High School, Markus was a standout multi-sport athlete. As a hurdler, he qualified for the state meet as a senior, improving his times dramatically throughout the season. On the football field, he played as a strong safety, helping lead the Garner Trojans to a 4A state championship during his sophomore year. He finished his junior season with 58 tackles and led the team in defensive scores as a senior.

Personal Life and Legacy

Born on February 5, 1996, in Washington, D.C., Markus was the son of Theotric White and Lisa Mosley Bryant. He is survived by his siblings — McKenzie, Whitley, Theo, and Travis — along with a host of family members, friends, and classmates who deeply loved him.

Markus’s academic path reflected his passion for helping others. His intended major was biology (pre-dental), and through his studies and service, he inspired those around him with his determination, intelligence, and kindness.
